Hello, I am a writer whose most recent book is Burmese Lessons, a love story, pub'd by Random House. I have just been on a cross-Canada tour but am scheduled to visit the U of A in the early spring (Feb or March) and am interested in visiting a couple of book clubs too. Obviously, this would mean your club would have read one of my books. I love your savvy website and I've looked at your books--I can imagine your members would find my work compelling. Burmese Lessons is a memoir about my time in Burma and on the border, as well as the story of my relationship with a Burmese revolutionary fighting against the Burmese regime. My last book, The Lizard Cage, was also about Burma. Anyway, if you're even vaguely interested, take a peek at my website www.karenconnelly.ca for more information. all my best, keep reading! karen c

Hello Tinna...we just gather, do a round where every person shares their initial thoughts on the book and then it is a free for all. We talk about the book, pose questions, laugh, eat, and finally rate the book. We end with the unveiling of the new book choices and a vote on which one we are going to take on. We take turns hosting and the person who hosts chooses our book selections. Hope that helps and good luck with your Fort McMurray club!

You ladies sure seem to have it all together when it comes to bookclubs. How do you manage your meetings? Do people take turns talking? We are looking to start one in Fort McMurray and a few pointers would be so helpful!

Hi Francie! Can't wait to meet Siena. We missed your smiles and input at the last meeting.

francie 2009 august 31st

ladies, sorry i missed the last meeting. i have finished the book (laura rider) and thought it was ok. at least different from what we normally read. i'm glad our next meeting isn't for a while because i have started a very trashy vampire series...its like twlight for adults. afterwards i can check out our next book. look forward to seeing everyone in oct and i'll bring baby siena too. enjoy the fall...

that's great paula! thanks for sharing the recommendations. we'll definitely consider them! happy reading!

I found your website 3 years ago since then read 11 of your posted books and agree 100% with your ratings. I am surprised The Shack is not a current read, I recommend this book and I believe the author is Canadian. I also recommend City of Theives. Really like to check your website and see what you gals are reading. I live in Tampa Fl. and belong to 2 books clubs.

melinda 2009 may 16th

I am looking forward to a good read...it has been a while!

sandy 2009 may 16th

I'm number 19 on the library waitlist! I guess I'll be buying it today as well.

francie 2009 may 15th

thanks for the comment, jill. you gave me the nudge to order it.... there are numerous holds for it at the library... another sign of a good book.

melinda 2009 may 14th

I should buy the book and get a move on!

jill 2009 may 12th

loving the new book! i'm nearly finished already....

francie 2009 march 31st

hey... so good to hear from you michele!!hope you are well. funny you mention people of the book cause that was my other pick...hopefully it will come around again. please send us other good reads and keep well.

michele 2009 march 24th

hi girls, still not enough time for a book club here in indiana, but i did manage to read one of your books over the holiday break -- water for elephants. i really liked it; reminded me of carnivale! i also just read 'people of the book' -- kind of like the story of Red Violin (movie), a tale of all the places, people who touched the book. excellent for those who like historical novels. hope you all are well!
