eat pray love
by elizabeth gilbert

At the age of thirty-one, Gilbert moved with her husband to the suburbs of New York and began trying to get pregnant, only to realize that she wanted neither a child nor a husband. Three years later, after a protracted divorce, she embarked on a yearlong trip of recovery, with three main stops: Rome, for pleasure (mostly gustatory, with a special emphasis on gelato); an ashram outside of Mumbai, for spiritual searching; and Bali, for "balancing." These destinations are all on the beaten track, but Gilbert's exuberance and her self-deprecating humor enliven the proceedings: recalling the first time she attempted to speak directly to God, she says, "It was all I could do to stop myself from saying, 'I've always been a big fan of your work.'"

I just finished reading Eat Pray Love and it was the most delicious book I've read in years. I was in Bali last year and ohhh what a treat on my own spiritual journey. Okay who can get this word out, I hear that they (who ever they are) will adapt the book to a movie and they are considering Julia Roberts -- I'm flabergasted... we cannot let Hollywood ruin this and dumb it down! NO NO NO. Please everyone, revolt! At least consider a deeper artist / actress like Uma Thurman or Kate Blanchett so that we do not have to suffer through another ruined script! HELP everyone!

this was a witty book with some good insights into an individuals struggles. I enjoyed her relationships with people in the book and her ability to make me feel connected to the characters. I also appreciated how her experiences encouraged me to look at my own life and the choices I make. Great read!

Hi Ladies, From the Alumni vault...I'm in need of a new book (I just finished The Kite Runner...finally got around to it!), and moreso, some "lady time". Besides, I have yet to experience Mary's garden! Can I join the next book club?! Let me know, and I'll get the book... Sandy
